Annual report 2024
Who needs to submit an annual report?
All betting and/or online casino licence holders who have held a licence for the entire period between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024 must submit an annual report.
Who is not required to submit an annual report?
License holders for whom 2024 was the first year of providing gambling products are not required to submit an annual report. Instead, a report on the first year of providing gambling products must be submitted no later than 14 months after the licence has been issued for the first time.
Licence holders who first provided gambling products in 2024, should instead submit a report. This report, which is about the first year of suppling gambling, should be sent to the Gambling Authority no later than 14 months after a license has been issued (Form 2-05 Report about supply of gambling). A renewal of a licence is considered to be a new licence. This means that the above-mentioned report must be submitted, cf. section 43(1) of the Act on Gambling.
When do you have to submit the annual report?
The annual report must be submitted to the Danish Gambling Authority no later than 30 June 2025.
How to submit the annual report?
Once again, this year the annual report for 2024 must be submitted via a questionnaire.
Before you can complete the questionnaire, you will receive a link. We recommend that you complete the questionnaire in one session, but it should be possible to access the link at a later time and resume where you left off.
What must be included in the annual report?
The annual report must include the company’s key financial data and an account of, how the licence holder has complied with the requirements of the law. The report should only concern the offering of gambling services and products in the Danish market in 2024 unless otherwise stated.
Greenland
If you hold a licence to provide gambling products in Greenland, the annual report must also cover the provision of gambling products in this area. This means that all data must include Greenland, also in cases where additionally questions are asked about Greenland specifically.
Submission requirements
The information in the annual report is obtained based on section 43(3) of the Danish Gambling Act and section 65(2) of the Danish Anti-Money Laundering Act.
If you fail to complete and send your annual report, it is considered a gross violation of the Gambling Act and may cause us to withdraw your licence under section 44(1)(1) of the Gambling Act.
The Danish Gambling Authority’s use of the annual reports
The annual report is thoroughly reviewed by the Danish Gambling Authority for supervisory purposes, including the Danish Gambling Authority's risk assessment of the companies covered by the Danish Anti-Money Laundering Act.
In particular, the Danish Gambling Authority is reviewing/assessing how the licence holder has complied with the legislation in the Danish Gambling Authority's area of supervision.
Duty of confidentiality
On 28 March, the Danish National Tax Tribunal passed a ruling that the Danish Gambling Authority is not subject to the extended duty of confidentiality. The ruling can be read on skat.dk (in Danish): Spillemyndigheden – Afslag på anmodning om aktindsigt - Tavshedspligten i skatteforvaltningsloven - info.skat.dk
The ruling affects the information that the Danish Gambling Authority can disclose. It also applies to information submitted via the annual reports. Although the Danish Gambling Authority is subject to the extended duty of confidentiality, we are still subject to a general confidentiality agreement under section 27 of the Public Administration Act. Thus, the Danish Gambling Authority does not disclose confidential information and trade secrets submitted in connection with the annual reports.
