International collaborations

The Danish Gambling Authority is keeping abreast of international developments in the gambling market. We are visible and actively engaged in a wide range of issues in the international arena. 

EU

Along with the department of the Danish Ministry of Taxation, the Danish Gambling Authority participated in an EU expert group regarding online gambling services. The Commission appointed the expert group and its purpose was to share experience and examples of good conduct among the individual EU/EEA member states. The expert group met quarterly. The agenda covered consumer protection, money laundering, match-fixing, technical requirements as well as requirements for data from the gambling operators. 

The Danish Gambling Authority was represented in the EU-Commission’s expert group. The group had its last meeting on 7. December 2018 after which the group was disbanded.

The council of Europe – Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS)

In EPAS, a convention for the combat of manipulated sport events is in progress. The purpose of the convention is to prevent manipulation of sport events and ensure the integrity of sport. The Danish Gambling Authority participates in the negotiations along with the Ministry of Culture, which is responsible for the area, the department of the Ministry of Taxation, and the Ministry of Justice. 

International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR)

IAGR is a global organisation for gambling regulators whose purpose is to promote the regulation of gambling through collaboration and sharing of knowledge. IAGR is comprised of 75 jurisdictions from all over the world.  The Danish Gambling Authority’s participation in IAGR contributes to efficiently spreading the knowledge of Danish gambling legislation.

Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF)

GREF is a forum for European gambling regulators that enables gambling regulators to meet and share knowledge and experience with each other. The Danish Gambling Authority is represented in the board of GREF. For several years, the Danish Gambling Authority has contributed to GREF’s statistics of the gambling area and participated in the working group that collects the voluntary reports of statistics of the member states.

Bilateral agreements of collaboration

The Danish Gambling Authority has entered into agreements with several countries. The agreements are meant to promote the legal conduct among gambling operators in the Danish Market and thus ensure consumer protection. At present, the Danish Gambling Authority has entered into agreements with Alderney, France, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Malta, and Great Britain.

Especially the cooperation agreements with Alderney, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Jersey, and Malta deal with inspections of the licensees' supply of gambling products, including the gambling system in the relevant country and in Denmark.

Nordic collaboration 

To promote the Nordic collaboration, the Danish Gambling Authority participates in an annual director meeting. Here, relevant gambling topics for the Nordic countries are discussed. As a counterpart to the Nordic director meeting, a Nordic meeting for employees is also held.
