Meet the new director of the Danish Gambling Authority

On 1 November 2020, Anders Dorph took over as director of the Danish Gambling Authority. Due to the current restrictions associated with Covid-19, he has not yet met the 120 employees, but he already feels well at home at the Danish Gambling Authority.

Anders Dorph, who has a master's degree in law, comes from a position as deputy director of the Danish Immigration Service and has previously held several senior positions in the Ministry of Justice's group, including Head of Secretariat at the Danish National Police and Chief of Staff at Funen Police.

"It has, to say the least, been an unusual start-up!", says Anders Dorph, who held an online welcome meeting at home from his residence with all the employees who also sat in their home offices. "But even though I have not yet met the employees physically, I have been well received and I have already got a good impression of a well-functioning authority with many important tasks."

Good dialogue is the key
“I am very concerned with protecting the players and at the same time being able to maintain a good dialogue with the license holders. We must make sure that it is easy and simple to comply with current legislation. I am convinced that this is the key to a well-functioning, legal and healthy gambling market, where gambling remains entertainment, while ensuring that we can protect the players in the best possible way. ”

“It also looks like there will be an adjustment of the gambling law along the way. Regardless of its content, it is of course a process that we at the Danish Gambling Authority will follow with great interest. ”

"I am very much looking forward to the cooperation with the stakeholders in the field of gambling and to getting to know the various parties better."
