Land based provision of betting
This newsletter of 29 June 2012 concerns changes in the terms set for land based provision of betting.
In Newsletter no. 5 of 14 December 2012 the Danish Gambling Authority informed about the conditions under which the provision of land based betting must take place. These conditions were later set as specific terms in the licences issued.
After publishing the newsletter we have received many comments from our licence holders with suggestions for changes to the terms set. However, taking into account that the wishes are many and very diverse, it is our assessment that it is currently not possible to implement any changes.
The specific terms set in the licences shall therefore remain unchanged for now.
During the fall of 2012 we expect to announce a proposal for amendments to the current terms, but in order to give our licence holders sufficient time to adapt, any future changes to the terms are not expected to take effect before January 1st 2013 at the earliest.
Utilisation of the current terms regarding provision of bets from stalls
We have often been asked whether licence holders under the current terms set for land-based provision of betting may establish stalls outside e.g. a sports stadium.
To clarify this matter, please note that:
If the stall has a perimeter defined by a physical barrier it will be regarded as a shop or betting shop and it is therefore allowed, provided of course that the shop has a manager approved by the Gambling Authority. It is, however, the licence holders own responsibility to make sure that other relevant permits from e.g. the police or municipality have been granted.
