The quarterly data is based on duty payments from all license holders. In Q4 the GGR for both betting and online casino was higher than the same quarter in 2014.
In Q4 the GGR for online casino grew nearly 25 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2014. This is the fourth quarter in row where the GGR is more than 20 per cent higher than the same quarter last year. Before 2015 the quarterly growth rate compared to the same quarter last year was usually around 10 per cent.
In Q4 the GGR for betting increased more than 30 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2014. This is significantly higher than the three first quarters of 2015 where the growth rate was 5-10 per cent.
In December 2015 there were approximately 25,500 gaming machines in gaming halls and restaurants.
The GGR reached 385 M DKK in Q4 2015. This is 20 M DKK more than the same quarter 2014. This is the fourth quarter in a row with an increase in GGR – compared to the equal quarter the year before. This could indicate the GGR for gaming machines has stabilized after some years with relatively large declines.
Land based casinos
There are seven land based casinos located in Copenhagen, Elsinore, Odense, Vejle, Aarhus, Aalborg and the ferry Pearl Seaway between Copenhagen and Oslo.
The GGR for land based casinos fell to 80 M DKK in Q4 2015. The GGR for land based casinos increased 15 M DKK from 2014. The increase is driven by strong GGR in Q2 and Q3.
