Gaming or gambling?

Gaming (video games) is a major part of everyday life for many children and young people.

Since the Danish Gambling Authority regulates gambling, it is generally not our responsibility to regulate gaming.

However, in recent years several video games have begun to include elements similar to gambling, such as lootboxes (digital lucky bags). Many children and young people have also tried skin betting, where digital items are used as stakes in games that function like online casinos.

Because we have a special obligation to protect children and young people, the Danish Gambling Authority monitors this area closely.
